TiviMate error 404 means the app asked a server for your playlist or a channel, and the server answered "not found." Most of the time, refreshing the playlist, fixing the link or changing your DNS clears it. Start with the fast fixes below and work your way down.
What Does TiviMate Error 404 Mean?
A 404 is a standard web code. It means your app has an address saved, but nothing is waiting at that address.
In TiviMate, the error shows up in two ways:
- Playlist link not found: the whole playlist fails. You see no channels, or you get an error when you update.
- Channel offline: the playlist loads, but one channel or a few channels won't play.
TiviMate is only a player. It does not host any streams itself. So a 404 is almost always caused by the link, the account or the network, not by the app.
Quick Diagnosis: Match Your Symptom to the Cause
Use this table to find your most likely cause. Then jump to the matching fix.
| What you see | Most likely cause | Fastest fix | Difficulty |
|---|---|---|---|
| One channel fails, others play | Channel is offline at the source | Wait, then switch channels | Easy |
| Many channels fail after working fine | Old playlist data | Update the playlist | Easy |
| Playlist won't load at all | Typo in the link | Re-enter the URL | Easy |
| Errors after the device sat unused | Wrong clock or stuck app | Restart and set auto time | Easy |
| Odd errors that keep coming back | Damaged cache or old app | Clear cache and update | Medium |
| Works on mobile data, fails on home Wi-Fi | Internet provider blocking | Switch DNS to 1.1.1.1 | Medium |
| Everything fails, in every app | Expired account or dead link | Check account, get a new link | Hard |
How to Fix TiviMate Error 404 (Fastest Fix First)
Try these fixes in order. Check a channel after each step so you know which one worked.
1. One Channel Is Offline → Wait and Switch
Sometimes a single stream goes down for a short time at the source. Your app is fine. The channel just isn't sending anything yet.
- Press back and open a different channel.
- If other channels play, wait a few minutes.
- Go back to the first channel and try again.
If only that one channel keeps failing for hours, report it to your provider.
2. Old Playlist Data → Update the Playlist
TiviMate saves a copy of your channel list on the device. When the provider changes a stream address, your saved copy points to an address that no longer exists.
- Open TiviMate and go to Settings.
- Choose Playlists.
- Select your playlist.
- Pick Update playlist and wait until it finishes.
This one step fixes a large share of "channel offline" errors.
3. Typo in the Playlist Link → Re-enter the URL
Your playlist is loaded from a link called an M3U URL. That's a web address that holds your channel list. One wrong character breaks it.
- Check whether the link starts with http or https. Use exactly what your provider sent.
- Look for spaces at the start or end of the link.
- Usernames and passwords are case-sensitive. "John" and "john" are not the same.
- If you use an Xtream Codes login (server address, username and password), check the port number after the colon.
The safest move is to copy the link straight from your provider's message. Don't retype it by hand.
4. Wrong Date or Stuck App → Restart and Check the Clock
Secure connections check your device's date and time. If the clock is wrong, the server may reject the request.
- Open your device settings and turn on automatic date and time.
- Force stop TiviMate from the apps menu.
- Unplug your device for 30 seconds, then plug it back in.
- Open TiviMate and try again.
5. Damaged Cache or Old App → Clear Cache and Update
The cache is a folder of temporary files the app keeps to load faster. If those files get damaged, links can fail.
- On Android TV, go to Settings → Apps → TiviMate → Clear cache.
- On a Fire TV Stick 4K Max, go to Settings → Applications → Manage Installed Applications → TiviMate → Clear cache.
- Open your app store and update to the latest TiviMate 5.x version.
Warning: choose "Clear cache," not "Clear data." Clearing data deletes your playlists and settings.
6. Internet Provider Blocking → Change Your DNS
DNS is the internet's phone book. It turns a web address into a server location. Some internet providers use their DNS to block or slow streaming servers. Slowing traffic on purpose is called throttling.
A quick check: turn on your phone's hotspot and connect your TV device to it. If channels play on mobile data but not on home Wi-Fi, DNS is likely the cause.
- Open your device's network settings.
- Change IP settings from automatic to static.
- Set DNS 1 to 1.1.1.1 (Cloudflare DNS).
- Save, restart the device and reload the playlist.
You can also set 1.1.1.1 on your router instead. That covers every device in your home at once.
While you're there, raise your buffer. A buffer is a short bit of video saved ahead of time so playback doesn't stop. If your player lets you enter a number, use 5,000 ms (5 seconds).
7. Expired Account or Dead Link → Check Your Subscription
When a subscription ends, the provider usually turns off the playlist link. Every channel then returns a 404, in every app.
- Check your account end date with your provider.
- If it's expired, renew it.
- Ask for your current link. Some providers change links after renewal.
- In TiviMate, open Settings → Playlists, remove the old playlist and add the new link.
What to Do If Nothing Worked
If you've tried all seven fixes, narrow down where the problem lives.
- Try another player. Load the same link in IPTV Smarters Pro, IBO Player Pro, Kodi 21 or Flex IPTV. If it fails there too, the problem is the link or the server, not TiviMate.
- Try another network. Use a phone hotspot. To see what Wi-Fi standards and hotspot features your phone supports, look up its spec sheet on GSMArena.
- Contact your provider. Send the exact error text, the time it happened and which channels failed. Clear details get faster answers.
How to Prevent Error 404 in the Future
A few simple habits keep the error away:
- Turn on automatic playlist updates in TiviMate's playlist settings.
- Save your playlist link in a safe note so you can paste it again quickly.
- Renew your subscription before it ends.
- Keep TiviMate and your device software up to date.
- Use a wired connection or a strong router. Weak Wi-Fi causes timeouts that can look like offline channels. KitGuru publishes detailed router and hardware reviews if you're thinking about an upgrade.
